Tony Newberry HFT Pistol Memorial Competition 12th September 2020
Maximum possible Score 60 Results as follows:
Peter Cook 44
Helen Carragher 40
And Thorpe 38
Bob Tyler 37
Keith Perry 37
Jim Skipper 32
Mick Jefcoate 29
Bill Steel 27
Jennifer Cutts 21
Peter won the match with Helen second and Andy third. Jennifer took part for only the first time and scored a respectable 21. The event was also a league match for overall placings at the end of the season.
Tony’s son, Steve and daughter, Liz kindly turned up to present the trophies, to Jim for previously winning the Rifle Snooker competition and Peter for HFT Pistol today.
It was a strange presentation as the trophies were not handled and it was all done by hand gestures, but these are strange times and maybe next year in better times, we can do both events on the same day. Someone even suggested having a barbecue and why not.
I am hoping to put some pics out of the day in the photo Gallery in due course.

Maximum Possible Score 33 Results as follows:
Jim Skipper 26
Steve Lyon 20
Andy Thorpe 17
Mick Jefcoate 17
Clive Croot 15
Ray Moules 15
Keith Perry 15

The course was set with the black out at 55 yards and all other colours placed at random distances towards the firing line.
The first 3 competitors reached brown before stumbling at the blue, each scoring 15
Jim Skipper sailed through and potted the pink but missed the black scoring 26
Steve Lyon missed the pink but could have topped Jim with the black, but it didn’t fall and Steve ended up with 20
Andy Thorpe and Mick Jefcoate tied for third with 17. Andy missed green, pink and black. Mick missed brown, blue and black. He was the only shooter to pot the pink apart from Jim.
So with a tricky wind blowing from behind, only 4 potted the blue and 2 the pink. The black stood defiant throughout.
The trophy will be engraved with Jim’s name next to Neil Darlow, last year’s winner.
